Melissa Smith is a seasoned health educator with over 25 years of experience and is passionate about people and public health’s role in community health and healthy aging. She serves as a Senior Community Health Promotion Specialist at Arapahoe County Public Health. Melissa received a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Washington University, and Master of Public Health degree from the University of South Carolina. Her first visit to Colorado was on the day she moved here in December 2011, and she has found the people to be even more charming and inspiring than the landscape. When not working, Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, teenagers, and their rescue dog, Banjo. Heather Baumgartner, MSS, is thrilled to be a team member at the recently launched Arapahoe County Public Health where she serves as Director of the Partnerships, Planning, and Community Health Promotion Division. With a masters in social sciences, her 25-year background as a member of Colorado’s public health community has included opportunities learn from and contribute to local and state government, academia, and the nonprofit sector. Along with fellow team members, her current work prioritizes and supports community health promotion, assessment and planning, population health data sciences, performance management, health equity and community engagement.
